670 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar narrated to me; Muʿadh ibn Hisham narrated to us; his father narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abu Harb ibn Abi al-Aswad al-Dili, from his father, from ʿAli, who related that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The urine of a baby boy is to be sprinkled, whereas the urine of a baby girl is to be washed.”
Qatadah added regarding both: “So long as they have not yet eaten solid food; once they begin to eat, the garment must be washed in either case.”
