69 – Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; al-Dahhak ibn Makhlad narrated to us; Abu Hafs the Poet al-Taymi narrated to us; he said: My father narrated to me, from Abd al-Rahman al-Aʿraj, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Jews used to perform the ʿaqiqah (newborn sacrifice) for a boy with one sheep and would not slaughter anything for a girl. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Slaughter two sheep for a boy and one sheep for a girl.”
