Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

659 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated; from two men of Khurasan—one of them known as Abū ʿIsmah—who reported from a man of Medina that he asked Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib about a taʿwīdh (protective amulet). Saʿīd replied, “There is no objection so long as it is written on leather or on silver.”
