655 – Abu Khaythama and Ishaq b. Ismaʿil related to us, saying: Sufyan b. ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from ʿUbayd Allah b. ʿAbd Allah, from Umm Qays bint Miḥṣan, the sister of ʿUkkāsha. She said:

“I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a son of mine on whose neck I had hung a charm for al-ʿudrah (a throat inflammation). He said, ‘Why do you torment your children with this ⦗860⦘ hanging trinket? Use this Indian costus; it holds seven kinds of healing, one of them for pleurisy. It is to be sniffed for al-ʿudrah and administered as a linctus for pleurisy.’”
