622 – Muḥammad ibn Idrīs narrated to us; he said: Abū Ṣāliḥ ʿAbdullāh ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us; al-Layth ibn Saʿd narrated to me that ʿUmayrah ibn Abī Nājiya told him:

“I took in an orphan from Quraysh, brought him home, fed him, anointed him with oil, and gave him some coins. Then I said, ‘O Allah, share my mother in the reward for what I have done for this orphan.’

“Afterwards I went to sleep and saw my mother in a dream, approaching in the finest appearance I had ever seen her, with that orphan at her side. She stopped and said, ‘My dear son, if only you could see what this boy has done for me since today!’ ”

Al-Layth explained: “She meant, ‘I have received goodness because of what ʿUmayrah—her son—did for the orphan.’ ”
