607 – Ahmad ibn Jamil narrated to us; Ibn al-Mubarak narrated; Saʿid ibn Abi Ayyub narrated, from Yahya ibn Abi Sulayman, from Zayd—or Yazid—ibn Abi ʿAttab, from Abu Hurayrah, who reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The best household among the Muslims is a house in which an orphan is treated kindly, and the worst household among the Muslims is a house in which an orphan is treated harshly.”
He then pointed with his finger and said, “I and the guardian of an orphan will be in Paradise like these two,” bringing his index and middle fingers together.
