605 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd related to us; Shuʿbah transmitted from ʿAlī ibn Zayd, who said: I heard Zurārah ibn Awfā narrate from a man of his own clan, called Abū Mālik—or Ibn Mālik—that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say:
“Whoever takes in an orphan from the children of the Muslims, sharing with him his food and drink until the child can provide for himself, will certainly have Paradise assured for him. Whoever lives to see his parents—or even just one of them—yet fails to treat them dutifully, and then enters the Fire, may Allah cast him far away. And any Muslim who emancipates a Muslim slave, that act shall be his ransom from the Fire.”
