600 – Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, who said: “Ismaʿil ibn Rajaʾ would gather the kuttab children (the pupils of the Qur’an school) and relate hadith to them so that he would not forget what he had memorised.”
