569 – Muḥammad ibn Shujāʿ al-Marwazī narrated to us; Isḥāq ibn Yūsuf al-Azraq narrated to us; Zakariyyā—meaning Ibn Abī Zāʾidah—narrated to us, from Khālid ibn Salamah, from al-Bahī, from ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:
“I was unaware of anything until Zaynab entered upon me, without asking permission, in a state of anger. She said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), ‘Whenever the daughter of Abū Bakr waves her two arms…’ Then she turned on me, and I ignored her until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Go on—defend yourself!’ So I faced her and replied until I saw that her mouth had gone dry and she had nothing left to say. I then noticed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with his face shining in delight.”
