564 – Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to me; from Sufyān; from Fulayt, a man of the Banū Dhuhl; from Jasrah bint Dajājah; from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her). She said:
“I have never seen anyone who could prepare food as well as Ṣafiyyah. On one occasion she sent the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a dish filled with food. I could not restrain myself and I broke it. So I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, what is the expiation for what I have done?’ He replied, ‘A dish equivalent to the one you broke and food equivalent to the food you ruined.’”
