555 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Salamah al-Mājishūn informed me, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send—or quietly admit—to me young maidservants who would play with me using dolls—that is, children’s playthings.”
