Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

531 – Hārūn ibn Maʿrūf narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us, from Ḥaywah, from Ibn al-Hād, from Muslim ibn al-Walīd, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, who heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:

“It is not lawful for a woman to fast while her husband is present except with his permission, nor may she admit any man into his home if he objects. Whatever charity she gives, he receives half of its reward. She was created from a rib, and the rib retains its curve; should you attempt to straighten it, you will break it—and breaking it is to part from her.”
