522 – Al-Qāsim ibn Hāshim narrated to us; Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Fāṭimah bint ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Yashkuriyyah narrated to us, from her mother, that a woman once asked ʿĀʾishah, “My relatives are poor. May I take something from my husband’s house and send it to them?” ʿĀʾishah replied, “Does your husband notice?” She answered, “He does not notice everything I send to them.” ʿĀʾishah said, “Then seek his permission; if he gives you leave, send to them without being wasteful.” She added, “What difference is it if one of you steals from her husband’s house or from her neighbor’s?”
