Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

520 – A woman once came to Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked, “What is permissible for me to take from my husband’s household?” He mentioned bread, dates, and similar provisions. She then said, “What about the dirhams (silver coins)?” Ibn ʿAbbās replied, “Would you like him to take your jewelry?” She answered, “No.” He said, “Then do not take any of his dirhams.”
