A dignified woman—she looked as though she were from the women of Muḍar—stood before the Prophet ﷺ and asked, “Messenger of Allah, we draw upon the property of our sons, our fathers, and our husbands; what are we permitted to take from their wealth?” He replied, “Fresh dates: you may eat them and give them as gifts.”
