516 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Hārūn ibn Muʿāwiyah informed us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her): Hind, the mother of Muʿāwiyah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, Abū Sufyān is a tight-fisted man and does not give me what is sufficient for me and my children. Is there any sin upon me if I take something from his wealth?” He replied, “Take what suffices you and your children in accordance with what is customary.”
