Al-Nafaqa 'ala al-'IyalIbn Abi al-Dunya

Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Jarir likewise; from Yahya ibn Saʿid, who said:

Muʿadh ibn Jabal had two wives. Whenever he was staying with one of them, he would not make ablution using water from the other wife’s house. Both of the women then died in a plague that struck them on the same day. He brought their bodies to the grave, drew lots between them to determine which of the two should be placed in the grave first, and afterwards laid them both to rest together, covering them with earth in a single burial pit.
