507 – ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Abū Muʿāwiya narrated to us, from Misʿar, from Ziyād, from al-Ḥasan, who traced the report back to the Prophet: “If a man spends on his family without extravagance and without stinginess, that expenditure is regarded as though it were spent in the cause of Allah.”
