487 – Bahz ibn Hakim related to us, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: “I asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, regarding our wives—what may we engage in with them and what must we leave?’ He replied:
‘Your wife is your field, so go to your field as you wish, provided you do not strike the face, do not demean her, and do not abandon her except within the house. Feed her whenever you eat and clothe her whenever you clothe yourself. How could any of you then expose himself to her were it not through what has lawfully made her permissible to him?’”
