480 — Abu Khaythamah narrated to us; Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated to us; from al-Jurayri; from Abu al-Salil; from Nuʿaym b. Qaʿnab al-Riyahi, who said:

“I went to Abu Dharr, and he summoned the woman to bring me some food. She turned away from him, so he said, ‘Such is their nature; you will never go beyond what the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—told us.’ I asked, ‘What did the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—tell you about them?’ He replied, ‘Woman was created from a rib. If you try to straighten her you will break her, but if you leave her as she is, there remains in her a curve, and yet she is a sufficient companion.’”
