470 – Ahmad ibn Jamil narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us; ʿAwf narrated to us, from a man who heard Samura ibn Jundub preaching from the pulpit of Basra. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Hearken! Woman was created from a rib, and if you try to straighten that rib you will break her. So treat her gently and live with her—treat her gently and live with her.”
٤٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَمُرَةَ بْنَ جُنْدُبٍ، يَخْطُبُ عَلَى مِنْبَرِ الْبَصْرَةِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «أَلَا إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ وَإِنَّكَ إِنْ أَرَدْتَ إِقَامَةَ الضِّلَعِ تَكْسِرْهَا فَدَارِهَا تَعِشْ بِهَا فَدَارِهَا تَعِشْ بِهَا»
