446 – Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd narrated to me; Abū Usāma related to us, saying: “We were in the company of Sufyān when his son Saʿīd passed by. Sufyān commented, ‘If Allah intends good for me, He will let this one die.’ The boy did die, and his mother died as well. After that, Sufyān bought a she-camel and set out, so we followed him. When he reached al-Najaf, he turned to face Kūfa and declared, ‘If Sufyān ever returns to you, then he is a wicked man.’”
