435 – Ahmad b. al-Miqdam narrated to us; Hazm narrated to us, saying: I heard Kathir ask al-Hasan, “O Abu Saʿid, concerning Allah’s words, ‘Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring a comfort to our eyes’ (al-Furqan 25:74) — is that in this world or the Hereafter?” He replied, “No, rather it is in this world.” Kathir then asked, “And what is that?” Al-Hasan answered, “It is that the believer sees his wife and his children obedient to Allah.” He added, “And what could bring greater joy to a believer’s eyes than to see his wife and his children obedient to Allah, exalted be His remembrance?”
