434 – ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from ʿAmr b. Murrah, who said: I asked Saʿīd b. Jubayr about Allah’s statement, “And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith, We shall unite their descendants with them” (al-Ṭūr 52:21). He said: Ibn ʿAbbās explained, “The believer will have his descendants raised to his own rank, even if they were lower than him in deeds, so that Allah may gladden his eyes with their company.”
