426 – Al-Faḍl ibn Isḥāq told me; Abū Qutaybah narrated to us, from Ḥazm, from al-Ḥasan, who said: He was asked about the Almighty’s words, “Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and our offspring a delight to our eyes” (Q 25:74). They said, “Abū Saʿīd, is this in the life of this world or in the Hereafter?” He replied, “In this world: a man beholds in his child and his wife a righteous deed that gladdens his eyes.”
