- With this same chain, Shuʿbah narrated to us from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd. He said: I heard Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib say, “Abū Hurayrah used to perform the funeral prayer over a newborn who had never committed any sin, supplicating: ‘Allāh, shelter him from the torment of the grave.’”
٤٢٠ - وَبِهِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ، يَقُولُ: إِنْ كَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ لَيُصَلِّي عَلَى الْمَنْفُوسِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَعْمَلْ خَطِيئَةً قَطُّ فَيَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ «أَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ»
