ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Waqid narrated to us; Ḍamrah narrated to us; Ibn Shawdhab narrated to us, who said: “Qatadah had a stillborn miscarriage; he named the child Muhammad and offered the funeral prayer for him.” ⦗597⦘

I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, “When is the funeral prayer performed for a miscarried fetus?” He replied, “If it is four months old, the funeral prayer is performed for it and it is given a name.”
