3 – Shujaʿ ibn al-Ashras related to us; Layth ibn Saʿd related to us; from Abu az-Zubayr; from Abu Salih, the freedman of Hakim ibn Hizam, that Hakim ibn Hizam asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), “Which form of charity is best?” He replied, “Begin with those you support, and give charity out of wealth that leaves you self-sufficient.”
