386 – Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us; and Jaʿfar al-Ahmar also related to me, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muntashir. Sufyan said, “He was one of the most exemplary men we ever saw in Kufa, and it had reached him that: ‘Whoever shows generosity to his family on the Day of ʿAshura, Allah—may He be exalted—will be generous to him for the rest of that year.’” Sufyan added, “We tried this for about fifty years and experienced nothing but abundance.”
