361 – ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, who said: “I asked Saʿid ibn Jubayr about the Almighty’s words, ‘And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith—We shall unite their descendants with them’ (al-Tur 52:21). He replied: Ibn ʿAbbas said, ‘The believer will have his offspring raised to his rank, even though they are beneath him in deeds, and Allah gladdens his eyes by that.’”
