36. Ishaq ibn Ibrahim related to us; Yazid ibn Harun informed us; Abu al-Ashhab informed us, from al-Hasan, who said:

While the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was speaking with his Companions, a young boy came over to his father, who was sitting on one side of the gathering. The man stroked the child’s head and set him on his right thigh. A short while later his daughter arrived; he stroked her head but seated her on the ground. The Messenger of Allah said, “Why not place her on your other thigh?” So he lifted her up and put her on his left thigh. The Prophet then said, “Now you have dealt justly.”
