350 – Al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Ghassān al-Ghalābī narrated to us; my father narrated to me, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Thaʿlabah al-Ḥanafī: A man once said to his sons, “My sons, if any one of you needs something that requires preparation, he can readily borrow his neighbor’s cloak and his mount—but he will never be able to borrow a tongue. So set your tongues right.”
