- Ishaq ibn Ismaʿil related to us; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah related to us, from Mujalid ibn Saʿid, who said: I heard al-Shaʿbi say: I heard al-Nuʿman ibn Bashir say: “My father gave me a gift, so I went to the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—to have him act as a witness to it. He said, ‘I will not be a witness to this; I only bear witness to what is right.’”
٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: نَحَلَنِي أَبِي نُحْلًا فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُشْهِدُهُ فَقَالَ: «لَا أَشْهَدُ إِنِّي لَا أَشْهَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى حَقٍّ»
