306 – Al-Qasim ibn Hashim narrated to us; Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us; Alilah bint al-Kumayt al-ʿAtakiyyah narrated to us, saying: “I heard my mother, Aminah, relate that she travelled to Wasit during the time of al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf to seek her stipend. She said: ‘There I met a bond-woman of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Amatullah. Al-Hajjaj had summoned her, so she had been brought to him. Her own mother had also been a servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; her name was Razinah. ⦗477⦘

Aminah continued: I asked Amatullah, “Did you ever hear your mother mention anything about fasting on the Day of ʿAshuraʾ?” She replied, “Yes. My mother Razinah told me that she heard the Prophet ﷺ venerate that day so highly that he would even send for the wet-nurses of his children—or the children of Fatimah—on that day, place his saliva in their mouths, and say to their mothers, ‘Do not nurse them until nightfall.’ His saliva would suffice them.”"
