305 – Muhammad ibn Abi Samina narrated to us; Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Dhakwān, from al-Rubayyiʿ bint Muʿawwid ibn ʿAfrāʾ, who said:

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to instruct us to fast on ʿĀshūrāʾ. Accordingly, we would fast that day and have our young children fast as well. We fashioned small toys for them out of dyed wool, took them with us to the mosque, and whenever they cried we would hand those toys to them.”
