268 – Yahya ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Khathʿami narrated to us, from an elder among the people of Basra, who said: ʿAbd al-Muttalib would seat al-ʿAbbas on his arm and declare:
My hope for Abbas, my little son—when he is grown—
Is that he will give the pilgrims water when their numbers have swollen,
And slaughter al-kawmā (the high-humped camel) on a day of plenty.
He will excel ʿAbd Kulāl and Hajar in honor;
Even if the two were joined together, they would not reach a tenth of him.
