248 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Madani narrated to us; al-Muʿtamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us; he said: I heard Ibn Abi al-Hakam al-Ghifari say: my grandmother told me, from the paternal uncle of Abu Rafiʿ ibn ʿAmr, who said:

When I was a boy I would throw stones at the date-palms belonging to the Ansar. Some people informed the Prophet ﷺ: “There is a boy here pelting our date-palms.” I was brought to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, “Young man, why are you throwing at the date-palms?” I replied, “So that I can eat.” He said, “Do not pelt the date-palms; eat from whatever has fallen to the ground at their base.” Then he passed his hand over my head and prayed, “O Allah, satisfy his hunger.”
