209 – Khalid ibn Khidash narrated to us; Hatim ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Muʿawiyah ibn Abi Muzarid narrated to me, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said:

“My own eyes saw and my own ears heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, take the hand of al-Hasan—or al-Husayn; I am more inclined to think it was al-Husayn. He set the child’s feet on top of his own and let him climb up his shins and thighs, all the while saying, ‘taraqqa ʿaynu baqqa (Climb up, little bug!).’ When the boy had planted his feet upon the Messenger of Allah, he opened his mouth and the Prophet kissed his belly, then said: ‘O Allah, I love him, so love him, and love whoever loves him.’”}
