168 – Abū Saʿīd al-Madīnī recited to us; he said: Abū al-Baddāḥ recited to me, on behalf of his sister al-Shumūs:
We shed our tears for the stranger torn from his kin,
For you are an exile in the farthest reaches of the land.
Every child of a mother has someone dear who gladdens him,
And you are our beloved—until the day we die.
So hasten back to a mother who anxiously watches over you;
Do not linger in a land where you are a stranger.
He who sends you your provision while you are far away
Will surely grant it when you are alive and near.
Oh, would that I knew—concerning you in every regard—
When shall we see you return, no longer lost to us?
Toward you a heart of ours bends; its chambers yearn;
Each and every day it quivers with a throbbing beat.
