159 – Abu l-Hasan al-Shaybani related to me, on the authority of a shaykh from Kufa, who said:
“I once saw a young son of Mis‘ar ibn Kidām leap upon his father and bite his hand so hard that the old man writhed in pain. The very next day I saw that same youth, astride his horse and riding about with the young men of Kufa; he passed by Mis‘ar, whereupon Mis‘ar remarked, ‘Only yesterday he did to me what you saw—and yet there is no soul on earth dearer to me than his.’”
