13 – Abu Khaythama narrated to us; Ismaʿil b. Ibrahim narrated to us, from Ibn ʿAwn, who said: “We were with Humayd b. ʿAbd al-Rahman in the slave market. He left us for a moment and then came back saying, ‘He is the last of three men from the clan of Saʿd—each one has related to me that Saʿd fell ill in Mecca, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit him and said:
“Whatever you give in charity from your own wealth is counted as charity; the food your wife eats from your provision is charity; and the maintenance you spend on your family is charity.”’”
