45 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Azdī narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn Hāshim al-Janbī narrated to us; from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, who said: “ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Marwān wished for the caliphate, Muṣʿab ibn al-Zubayr wished to marry Sukaynah daughter of al-Ḥusayn and ʿĀʾishah daughter of Ṭalḥah, and Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib wished for Paradise.” ⦗41⦘ Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib then said, “The two of them attained their wishes, and I hope that I will be granted Paradise.”
