Al-MutamanninIbn Abi al-Dunya

42 – Yahya ibn Hajar ibn al-Nuʿman al-Sami narrated to me; al-Qasim ibn Nuh al-Shami narrated to us, from Abu ʿAqil, from Abu Nazrah, from Abu Saʿid al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever brings a head, let him ask Allah for whatever he wishes.” Two men then came with a head and argued over it, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ awarded it to one of them and said, “Ask Allah for whatever you wish.” He replied: “I ask for a keen sword and a sturdy shield, so that I may fight in the path of Allah until I am killed.”
