149 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn Jarir narrated to us; Musa ibn Ismaʿil narrated to us; Hammad ibn Salamah narrated from ʿAli ibn Zayd, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, who said: The eyesight of one of the Prophet’s Companions ﷺ failed, and his fellow Companions came to console him. He told them, “I only wanted these two eyes so that I might look at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Now that Allah has taken His Prophet ﷺ, I would not trade what has befallen them for even a single gazelle from the gazelles of Tabalah.”
