15 – Muhammad ibn Idris related to me; Musaddad related to us; Abu ʿAwanah related to us, from Dawud ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Awdi, from Humayd ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman. Ibn ʿAbbas narrated to us ⦗28⦘: When ʿUmar was stabbed I said to him, “Rejoice in the glad tidings of Paradise.” He replied, “By Allah, were the entire world and all that it contains mine, I would ransom myself with it from the terror that lies ahead of me, before I even know what the verdict will be.”
١٥ - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَوْدِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ ⦗٢٨⦘: لَمَّا طُعِنَ عُمَرُ ﵁، قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، قَالَ: «وَاللَّهِ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا لَافْتَدَيْتُ بِهِ مِنْ هَوْلِ مَا أَمَامِي قَبْلَ أَنْ أَعْلَمَ مَا الْخَبَرُ»
