141 – Muhammad ibn Yazid al-ʿIjli narrated to us; Yahya ibn Adam ⦗83⦘ narrated to us; Abu Bakr narrated, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Abu ʿUbaydah, who said:

“Sulayman ibn Surad passed by my mother and asked for water so that he could perform ablution. The maidservant brought him the water. As they walked on, they came across a man who had just been flogged, crying out, ‘By Allah, I have been wronged!’ Sulayman then said, ‘Young woman, it was because of scenes like this that your husband used to wish for death.’”
