140 – Yaʿqūb ibn ʿUbayd narrated to me; Sulaymān ibn Harb informed us; Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated, from Isḥāq ibn Suwayd, who said: Matarrif said, “If I were placed between Paradise and Hell and it was asked of me, ‘Which would you prefer: that you be left to choose which of the two will be your abode, or that you become cold, lifeless ashes?’ I would choose to be cold, lifeless ashes.”
