130 – Abū Khaythamah narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Ghaylān narrated to me; al-Mufaḍḍal ibn Faḍālah narrated to us; Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Hād told me that Hind ⦗78⦘ bint al-Ḥārith related to him, from Umm al-Faḍl bint ʿAbbās, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to see his uncle al-ʿAbbās while he was ill and, because of the pain of his sickness, wishing for death. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand upon al-ʿAbbās’s chest and then said, ‘Uncle of the Messenger of Allah, do not wish for death. If you live on and your goodness increases, that will be better for you; and if you live on and are granted the chance to make amends for anything, that too will be better for you.’”
