13 – Khalid ibn Khidash narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us; from Hisham; from al-Hasan, that ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him), when death drew near, said: “If everything on earth were mine, I would offer it as a ransom to spare myself the terror of the matlaʿ (that first, awe-inspiring encounter with the Hereafter).”
