123 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Madani narrated to us; Abthar ibn ⦗74⦘ al-Qasim narrated to us, from Burd ibn Sinan, from Hizam ibn Hakim, who said: Abu al-Dardaʾ said:
“If you knew what you are going to witness after death, you would never eat food out of desire, nor drink any beverage out of desire, nor enter a house to live in. Instead, you would go out to the open ground, beating your chests and weeping over yourselves. I, for my part, wish I were a tree that is cut down and then consumed.”
